About Us The Hoover School Community Information Network (HSCIN) began in August 2006 with a Steering Committee of representative advisors from across the Hoover School District. HSCIN hopes to use this website and additional forums to inform and engage the Hoover community in discussions about our school district and school reform in an effort to maintain excellence in our public school system. Where we go from here depends on you. We hope this Network will be a beneficial tool for the entire School Community: parents, students, faculty, administrators, government officials, public servants, and lay community members. All too often we tend to pay attention only to the schools our children attend. What we hope is that by highlighting the Best Practices of individual schools and bringing attention to opportunities that may currently differ among the schools, that our school community will become stronger by allowing parents and community members to replicate the best of Hoover schools and state and national policy in the school their family is zoned to. Hoover Schools are full of wonderful people, faculty members, administrators, students and families. The city of Hoover is alive with businesses and community services that will graciously contribute to maintaining excellence within our public school system. By pulling all of Hoover's school information into one site, we hope to highlight opportunities for family and community involvement in all of our schools. The members of the original Steering
Committee were: While we did not have an advisor from Rocky Ridge Elementary, Shades Mountain Elementary or South Shades Crest Elementary, every effort was made to collect and display accurate information with regards to those schools. The Steering Committee was responsible for the layout of this website and the information gathered from individual schools. Trisha Crain built the site with commentary and critiques from the Committee. The next steps include asking our Community via web surveys and Town Hall meetings (dates forthcoming) what's on your mind. Click here to take our web survey. Once the information is gathered and researched, we hope to present the information to the Board of Education and Administration at the District Office and of course back to you, the Community via this website. Developing a path for input from our Community will make our schools stronger and more responsive. Research bears out that an engaged community makes stronger schools. Check out the Parent Resources page for links to this research. If you have suggestions for content on this site, please e-mail Suggestions@HSCIN.org. |
