HSCIN Elects Board of Directors - posted 11/06/08 The Steering Committee of the HSCIN has re-elected its three Board members for an additional two-year term, beginning November 1, 2008, through October 30, 2010. Click here to read more information on the HSCIN Board of Directors. The Steering Committee consists of Hoover citizens who wish to share ideas about how to better inform our Hoover school community about our public school system and engage our Hoover school community in the education of its children. The HSCIN conducts bi-monthly meetings, but attendance is not mandatory. Most of the sharing of ideas is conducting via e-mail. If you would like to become a member of the Steering Committee, please contact Jackie, Trish or Ginger at HSCIN@HSCIN.org. The HSCIN has long considered itself the "critical friend" (to borrow a term from the Yes We Can! Birmingham movement) of the Hoover Board of Education. And, while much of the HSCIN's work has been investigative and "watchdog" in nature, with an emphasis on accountability, we hope to expand to be more proactive in helping Hoover's community engage in the education of its youngest citizens. Members of the HSCIN Board attended the Yes We Can! Alabama conference last week and are eager to see a similar movement begin in Hoover. More on that later.... Goals - Adopted August 13, 2007 The Goals for the Hoover School Community Information Network were adopted at the August 13, 2007 meeting.
